2025 Legislative Updates
HM 40 Study Office of Peace Please contact members of the House Government, Elections, and Indian Affairs Committee (HGEIAC) and ask the HM 40 be placed on the calendar. This memorial would authorize a study of the feasibility of creating an Office of Peace. Providing youth and adults with resources to resolve conflicts non-violently likely would benefit society as a whole. As a simple memorial, it only needs to be passed by one chamber to get to staff for action.
HB 9 Immigrant Safety Act This legislation is on the list for a floor vote. Please contact your representative and ask her or him to support HB 9. It prohibits public bodies in New Mexico from using public facilities to detain individuals with alleged federal civil immigration violations.
HB 130 Public Banking This bill would create the Public Bank of New Mexico and is sitting in its first committee, the House Commerce and Economic Development Committee (HCEDC). Please contact members of this committee and ask them to put it on the calendar and give it a chance to advance.
